Large-flower Primrose-willow (Ludwigia grandiflora)

Ludwigia grandiflora is known by the common names Large-flower Primrose-willow, Water Primrose, or Uruguayan Primrose-willow. At Fort Yargo State Park it is an aquatic plant that grows on the water by the woods on the south side of the inlet by the Old Fort (segment 11). It begins to bloom in mid June.

At the end of the season, the plants may send up vertical branches. It dies back in the winter.

Ludwigia grandiflora (Large-flower Primrose-willow) is native to South America. In the United State, it grows along watercourses south from New York state south to Floria, west to Texas and north to Missouri and Kentucky. It also grows in California, Oregon and Washington state.
