As I walked up the trail from the Tulip Poplar, a…
dragonfly landed on
a scuppernong leaf just to my left. Unfortunately it was ‘between’ the sun and
me. Not a good position for getting a good photograph. I was about to work my
way around it, when it flew along the trail and…
landed to my right;
the right side for photographing.
Now, if it would
just stay put so that I could quietly work my way around it. Surprisingly, it
did. It let me quietly and slowly work my way from right to left around it.

Enough photos to
allow me to identify it as a Black-shouldered Spinyleg (Dromogomphus spinosus).
