Smallfruit Beggarticks (Bidens mitis)

September 7th, 2014
Smallfruit Beggarticks (Bidens mitis) – also known as Coastal Plain Tickseed-sunflower
Walton County, Georgia

This is one of my favorite late Summer-Fall wildflowers. I can’t find a source for seeds so I am going to be stalking these plants in the hope of getting some seed. Unfortunately, the county mowed the roadsides recently so it’s going to be more of a challenge than I’d hoped. Wish me luck.

Good luck, you seed stalker, you!
Save some for me, I love that flower! It reminds me of the Yellow Daisies but the leaves look different.

Ha, ha. Thank you.
I'm trying to figure out when they will be ready to collect. They aren't called 'smallfruit' for nothing. The seeds look to be much smaller than the seeds of Spanish Needle (Bidens bipinnata) that grow wild around here.
Hope I can use the fact that the seeds of B. pinnata and the Cobbler's Pegs (Bidens pilosa) that I grew up with stick to cloth. Annoying usually, but may be the ticket here.
